Our IRT products are uniquely suited to provide an integrated covert security solution for counterfeit prevention, brand protection, track and trace applications as well as material authenticity verification for liability/warranty claims.
Angstrom Technologies can provide a cost effective IRT system ideally suited to your application needs. IRT systems are flexible, configurable, and include the IR taggant (or taggants) in an appropriate medium along with an appropriate detection device.
IRT Features & Options
Secure
IR Taggants are difficult to find or identify, especially if they are designed only to be machine readable (invisible excitation producing an invisible emission). It is extremely difficult to duplicate IR taggants due to the high sophistication of the equipment necessary to reverse engineer and indeed manufacture these materials.
Flexible and Customizable
IRT materials and detection methods range from relatively simple applications (visual confirmation with a laser pen) to more sophisticated systems using IR Taggants designed to produce customized emission profiles. These taggants can only be detected by a device programmed specifically to read their profile.
Superior Integration (Multi-Tier Security Solutions)
For multi-tier, high-level security solutions, Angstrom Technologies Inc. can provide a number of multi-layered security options. Examples include:
- A covert IRT taggant combined with an Overt security feature, such as a hologram or color shifting ink made with one of our OVP Products.
- An invisible IRT taggant with another covert security feature, such as our fluorescent pigments and dyes.
- These materials can be applied separately, integrated into the same media and then applied to the article or directly embedded into a compatible substrate.
Material Compatibility
IRT materials are compatible with a wide range of materials. They can be added or incorporated with inks, pigments, paints, coatings, adhesives, films, paper and plastics. They can be printed on labels or directly embedded into packaging or products themselves. IR taggants can be delivered in powder or suspension. We also can supply masterbatches, or finished inks.
Stable & Durable
IR Taggants are made of inert inorganic materials that are extremely durable. They exhibit low reactivity with surrounding materials and have excellent thermal and chemical stability.
Detection Device Features
Handheld detectors are extremely easy to use and provide simple pass/fail LED indicators and audible verification.
Detection devices include:
- IR laser pens (Visible response).
- Pre-programmed handheld devices.
- Customized handheld detectors.

OVP - Optically Variable Pigments
Angstrom Technologies, Inc., is offering a new product line of visible effect pigments. Our optically variable pigments (OVP), are used to create unique color-shifting inks that provide visible (overt) document security features for applications that include passports, tax stamps, currency, and brand protection. Each pigment produces a unique range of colors when viewed from different angles. Our OVPs can be used in conjunction with our invisible fluorescent products for a multi-layered document security solution.
